    Job Description: End of Life Choices Oregon

      Volunteer Coordinator

    End of Life Choices Oregon (EOLCOR) is a non-profit organization that works with Oregonians who are considering end-of-life options. We are volunteers uniquely trained to provide guidance through the Death with Dignity Act (DWDA) and other end-of-life choices. Our approach is non-judgmental as we work with clients and their loved ones through these challenging transitions.

    Summary of Position

    This position reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for coordinating regional volunteer teams and overseeing new volunteer onboarding and training.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Team Management and Development

    • Provide leadership and coordination with respect to inter-team communication and cohesiveness, sustaining culture and supporting volunteers during organizational growth
    • Develop, implement, and assess in-person and online training programs in conjunction with the Training and Education Committee
    • Create evaluation system that monitors the skill, experience, and needs of volunteers and staff
    • Coordinate regional teams via monthly Team Leader meetings
    • Plan and schedule quarterly physician meetings in conjunction with Medical Director

    Volunteer Onboarding and Training

    • Process and review volunteer applications
    • Conduct background checks
    • Oversee volunteer training and orientation activities
    • Set up volunteers’ email and database accounts
    • Distribute Volunteer Manuals, name badges, and other training materials
    • Coordinate Training and Education Committee
    • Update online training materials as needed

    General

    • Assist volunteers with training, technology, and other questions/concerns
    • Supervise Volunteer Manual updates and distribution of updated materials
    • Maintain Operations and Volunteer Training manuals

    Skills Required

    • Planning/Organizing - Prioritize and plan work activities. Set and meet goals and objectives.
    • Computer Skills – Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite; Zoom Videoconferencing;  charting database.
    • Communication - Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, active listening
    • Critical thinking and problem solving
    • Professionalism - Approach others in a tactful manner. React well under pressure and accept responsibility for own actions. Follow through on commitments.
    • Attendance/Punctuality - Arrive at meetings and appointments on time. Ensure work responsibilities are covered when absent.
    • Appearance and Demeanor - Maintain a professional presentation and appearance.

    Education and Experience

    Bachelor’s degree preferred. Demonstrated organizational management experience necessary. Preferred experience with Hospice or other end-of-life organization.

    Computer Skills

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a high level of comfort and facility with technology.

    Work Site

    This position requires a home office. Computer, printer, an app for cell phone will be provided.

    Work Hours

    This is a full-time position at 40 hours per week. Work hours are flexible according to specific projects and requirements.

    Compensation

    $ 41,000 – 45,000k year and three weeks PTO.

    Travel

    Some statewide travel is required, so insured vehicle and driver’s license is necessary.
