    Description:  To organize, develop and monitor the services provided by one of the volunteer program(s) of Kaiser Permanente Northwest. By developing effective partnerships with department managers and clinician leaders, the Volunteer Coordinator will establish innovative and collaborative methods for the volunteer program to continually enhance the services that it provides. Positions in this job include: Volunteen Services Coordinator; Quality and Service Volunteer Services Coordinator.



    Essential Responsibilities:


    • Plan, develop, organize, implement and monitor the delivery of applicable volunteer program services at various locations for Kaiser Permanente Northwest to enhance our culture of patient and family centered care.

    • Recruit, train, motivate, schedule, assign and terminate volunteers as appropriate. Provide guidance for volunteer job placement based on the volunteer's availability or interests and provide feedback to them related to task performance outcomes. In select facilities, support recruitment and onboarding efforts of volunteer patient partners.

    • Create and implement policies and procedures as appropriate. Maintain current position descriptions for applicable program.

    • Organize and manage areas of responsibility in a cost effective manner; develop and maintain department within budget guidelines. Provide supporting data that demonstrates the effectiveness of the designated program to local Administrative teams and the Kaiser Permanente organization.

    • Manages an effective process involving the proposal and approval of career development.

    • In select facilities, plan, coordinate and implement fund raising activities and special campus events in conjunction with Administration. Plan and maintain an ongoing program of volunteer and volunteen recognition events.

    • Performs other duties as requested. In addition to the above duties, the Volunteen Program Coordinator provides occasional Gift Shop support, including back up coverage for customer service and daily reconciliations at applicable facilities as needed.

    Basic Qualifications:

    Experience

    • Minimum three (3) years of experience as project/program coordinator or equivalent position.

    Education

    • Associate's degree OR two (2) years of experience in a directly related field.
    • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

    License, Certification, Registration

    • N/A

    Additional Requirements:

    • Working knowledge of supervisory/management theory and skills including communication, problem solving, and organizing tracking systems.
    • Competent verbal and written language skills. Ability to be flexible with volunteer needs and organizational requests.
    • Demonstrated ability to use basic office technical equipment such as computer keyboarding, multi-functional telephone system, copier and FAX.
    • Working familiarity with cash register usage and functions.
    • Capable of recognizing the culture of a large organization and developing appropriate/acceptable methods of working within that framework to accomplish program goals and objectives that are consistent with those of the organization.
    • Additional Preferred Requirements for both jobs:
    • Involvement with community services and resources
    • Demonstrated understanding of supervision/management skills with applicable volunteer demographic
    • Able to articulate theory and knowledge associated with developing assigned volunteer program
    • Demonstrated ability to market programs, recruit/retain volunteers, and publicly represent the Kaiser Permanente organization in a professional manner
    • Basic office skills including computer keyboarding
    • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal language skills

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Minimum three (3) years as a volunteer coordinator, preferably in a health care setting. If the position being posted is for the Volunteen Services Coordinator, it is also preferred to have a minimum three (3) years of experience related to sales, cashiering and pricing. 
    • Bachelors degree.
