Providence Hospice Seeking Volunteer Coordinator for Portland

    Providence is calling a Volunteer Coordinator Hospice (1.0 FTE, Days) to Providence Office Park Portland in Portland, OR.

    This is a temporary position with an estimated duration of 3 to 6 months.

    We are seeking a Volunteer Coordinator who will recruit, screen, interviews train, assign and supervise volunteers. The Volunteer Coordinator also provide volunteers ongoing educational opportunities, support and recognition. Other responsibilities include: communicating with members of the interdisciplinary team, assessing and coordinating volunteer assignments, maintaining documentation pertaining to volunteer services, maintaining data base and personnel files for the volunteers, and keeping the volunteer program in compliance with Providence Policy, The Joint Commission, and Medicare standards.

    In this position, you will:

    • Continuously recruits volunteers within and outside of Providence Health and Services.

    • Screens, interviews and trains volunteers for hospice service.

    • Participates in the Community Hospice Training Coalition to collaborate in planning, evaluation and provision of training for volunteers.

    • Plans and facilitates volunteer orientation, education programs and in-service meetings, in compliance with Providence policy, The Joint Commission and Medicare standards.

    • Assigns volunteers. Maintains a master schedule of volunteers and assignments.

    • Supervises the work of the volunteers on a day-to-day basis utilizing the following resources: telephone contact, face to face interactions, email contact, hospice staff and supervisory visits to provide support.

    • Provides an annual written evaluation for each volunteer and offers opportunities for volunteer input in the evaluation.

    • Provides service for patient/family while maintaining an optimal experience for the volunteer in recognition of the importance of volunteer retention.

    • Documents in the patient's medical records.

    • Maintains a personnel and medical file on each hospice volunteer.

    • Coordinates recognition events for volunteers to recognize and reward volunteers for their service to hospice patients and their families.

    • Attends staff meetings and interdisciplinary team meetings. Participates in staff orientation and other meetings.

    • Engages in community outreach to increase the knowledge of volunteer service as well as recruit additional volunteers.

    Qualifications:

    Required qualifications for this position include:

    • 2 years experience in volunteer coordination role.

    • Demonstrated experience in event planning.

    • In compliance with the Providence Health & Services-OR Human Resources policy #302 Background Checks, a criminal background check is required for this position, based on assigned duties.

    • Employees providing services in the State of Washington must pass the Washington Access To Criminal History (WATCH) Background Check.

    • Valid driver's license.

    • Driving record consistent with GOP Safe Driving Policy 330 Incident Point Matrix at time of hire.

    Preferred qualifications for this position include:

    • Social Services, Liberal Arts, or related field.

    • Hospice experience.

    • Experience using electronic medical record software.
