We have one permanent, full-time, Operation and Policy Analyst 3 position available in the State Forests Recreation Division within the Oregon Department of Forestry. The OPA3 Community Engagement Coordinator position is based out of Northwest Oregon Area (NWOA), with the option of duty station located in Forest Grove or Salem District Offices.  For specific questions regarding these positions please contact Laura Fredrickson, REI Manager, at (971) 294-1185

What You Will Do

As the Community Engagement Coordinator, you will connect the State Forest Division REI Program to the larger communities of Oregon. This position works in close collaboration with ODF leadership, the REI Leadership team, the Executive Director and volunteer board of the Tillamook Forest Heritage Trust to develop and grow external relationships, partnerships, and programs to promote the State Forest Division goals in the REI Program.  You will develop and implement a comprehensive REI Funding and Development Plan that will build and diversify funding sources for the social benefits derived from the recreational, educational & interpretive activities on State Forests.  This may include legislative appropriations, timber revenue, corporate and business sponsorships, leveraging capacity through organizations of interest, foundations, individual donors as well as the Trust. You will develop a comprehensive Volunteer Management Plan that builds upon current volunteer efforts so as to provide additional capacity to increase the long-term viability and sustainability of all aspects of the recreation, education and interpretation units of the REI Program.

Because the Department's highest priority work is a forest fire emergency, this position may be utilized during those emergencies to provide assistance in a variety of ways.  That assistance may be directly aiding the emergency effort in the field or at the Salem headquarters.  It also may be in providing backup to fill in for another position that is being used in direct aid to the emergency, or it may be in performing an essential function in some capacity either within this Program or elsewhere in Salem or in the field.

What We Are Looking For

• A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Public Policy, Community Resources & Development, Community Relations, Fundraising & Philanthropic Studies, Behavioral or Social Sciences, Finance, Political Science or any degree demonstrating the capacity for the knowledge and skills required for this position; and four years professional-level evaluative, analytical and planning work.
  OR;
  Any combination of experience and education equivalent to seven years of experience that typically supports the knowledge and skills for the classification.
