Volunteer appreciation week changes?

    Hello everyone,

I wonder what you are doing for volunteer appreciation week?  Normally we would have a dinner and awards and some extra written recognition of our volunteers.  I'm in the process of brainstorming/planning for something different, and wondering what others are doing?

We will move to some hearty on line recognition, social media, and gift cards for volunteers who have given above a certain amount of hours.  Most volunteers are also donors, so trying to walk the line of stewarding our resources well and recognizing their efforts and support.

Thanks in advance for sharing what you may be doing.

I hope to have a nice letter from our leader and then if I can wing it, i would love to create a video where i film staff stating "Why should we appreciate volunteers"

Our plan pre-COVID19 was to have our director do a short video that we would send to all volunteers in the monthly email newsletter. I've been reassigned to emergency operations for Multnomah County so I'm not totally in the loop with my team's plans for NVW, but I *think* that's still the plan.

Typically we also do a small branded item (this year was going to be vinyl stickers with our logo and the word "volunteer" since our regular logo sticker is so popular) and each library location sends a card around to staff to be signed and given to each volunteer. Since our libraries are closed to the public and we don't have access to our mail room (to receive the stickers and cards and mail everything) I don't think that'll be happening. I'm confident we'll be able to do that when we get through this though!

We typically have our annual appreciation event right after the holidays and mark National Volunteer Appreciation Week with hand written thank you cards and snacks. We're a small team so typically all staff will sign the cards. This year we're all working from home and I'm not sure if mail is safe so we're going paperless post and a social media campaign. I really wish I could do more by my idea pond is dry.
