Job Opportunity: The Nature Conservancy in Oregon is hiring a Volunteer & Community Engagement Specialist

    The Oregon Chapter is seeking a dedicated professional to serve as the Volunteer and Community Engagement Specialist.

    The Volunteer and Community Engagement Specialist will work with the Director of Volunteer Programs as part of the volunteer and community engagement program team to promote, expand and improve The Nature Conservancy’s statewide volunteer and community engagement program and help broaden support for conservation in Oregon. The Volunteer and Community Engagement Specialist will help grow the next generation of conservation leaders by building reciprocal and inclusive relationships with partners and communities. They will design and help implement a community engagement program primarily serving Black, Indigenous, People of Color and those who have been historically excluded from the outdoors and Nature Conservancy preserves. They will also manage a subset of our active volunteer team through execution of meaningful experiences that will advance The Nature Conservancy’s goals.

    The salary range for this position is $ 54,000 - $60,000/annually, dependent on qualifications and experience.

    The ideal candidate will have a background and track record that includes:

    Desired Qualifications

    • ·       Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years related experience or equivalent combination.
    • ·       Must pass meet all Conservancy Youth Qualification requirements and background checks.
    • ·       High level of Communication and public speaking skills.
    • ·       Project management skills.
    • ·       Experience supervising and managing staff, volunteers,
    • ·       interns and/or teams.
    • ·       Experience building and managing relationships with communities, volunteers, or external partners.
    • ·       Must have valid driver’s license, safe driving record and be comfortable driving groups of people in a variety of conditions and locations.
    • ·       Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experiences are appreciated.
    • ·       Experience building equitable relationships with BIPOC communities.
    • ·       Experience serving as a “brand ambassador” or Volunteer and/or Community Engagement Specialist.
    • ·       Ability to promote events and communicate with individuals and communities through social media channels such as Facebook and Twitter.
    • ·       Experienced in developing, implementing, and measuring strategic outreach plans and programs,
    • ·       Knowledge of current and evolving trends in volunteerism, marketing, conservation, and public relations.
    • ·       Proven organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • ·       Volunteer program management and training experience.
