Our organization (SMART Reading) has been having several conversations about the importance of volunteer appreciation, especially since we haven't had many opportunities for our rather large (approximately 5,000 statewide) base of volunteers to engage in in-person service in the last two years, but we anticipate having a great need for volunteers this fall as our school and community partners start to welcome back volunteers at their sites.
We are looking for ways to authuentically and meaningfully express gratitude for our long-term volunteers. We have discussed personal thank yous, via phone and/or cards, milestone pins, and other "swag" type items, but I'm curious what other organizations are doing to celebrate volunteer service milestones: 5 year, 10 year, etc
What are you doing at your organization?
