Hi, Liza! If your volunteer is an older adult (60 or over) a person with a disability of any kind, Ride Connection might be a good resource for them. We offer one-on-one travel training for people who want to learn how to use public transportation, which we offer at no cost. Travel trainers can familiarize them with TriMet's trip planning site, bring out maps and schedules, or actually ride the bus, MAX, Streetcar, etc. with someone until they're comfortable and confident traveling independently. We also offer door-to-door transportation at no cost, much of which is provided by Volunteer Drivers. When someone calls us, they'll talk to a Travel Options Counselor, who can help them identify other options that may fit their unique situation, too. Our main number is (503) 226-0700, or you can check out our website: www.rideconnection.org. It sounds like it might be a challenging conversation if you're noticing a Volunteer needs extra support getting to their volunteer gig, so feel free to reach out if you want to bounce ideas around or talk through what that conversation could look like: Pam Monahan, (503) 528-1738, or pmonahan@rideconnection.org.
