Development/Event Coordinator Question

    Hello Everyone!

This is a question regarding an auction we held back in May.  I know that a lot of Volunteer Coordinators also plan events, like me!  It is a sad situation, the person who won a LIVE Auction item was diagnosed with cancer and passed away a couple of months later.  His wife reached out to the tour company (what they bid on and won) and they were not able to find a time to coordinate the tour before his death.  Now she is asking for a refund because it was for him, and she doesn't want to go.

Have you ever come across this before?  We are trying to think of ways to avoid this in the future.  Do you put on the gift certificate that it is non-refundable?  Any advice will help us.  Thanks!

That is a tough situation.   ODFW puts on their gift certificates "no cash value"
