This training will review potential issues leading to an escalated event, practical tools to help de-escalate crisis including skills that can be practiced during a crisis, and how to support people before, during, and after an escalated situation. There will be time for ample discussion and for the audience to bring examples of situations they have been involved in as volunteers as well as ask questions of the presenter and other audience members.

Presenter Brooke White is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and is currently the Director of Training & Clinical Services at William Temple House in Portland, OR. She has worked in residential settings with adults seeking healing from substance use disorder as well as with unhoused youth and youth in the foster care system. She has been a trainer and supervisor for over 10 years and has worked with hundreds of staff to support them in their clinical interventions, always focusing on how to stay client-centered and trauma-informed.
