That's why we're seeking a visionary leader to expand and enhance the services provided by Multnomah County Library by involving the community as volunteers.
As the Library's Volunteer Services Manager you will implement and evaluate the library's volunteer program in collaboration with library managers, volunteers and the Volunteer Services team. You will oversee and coordinate staff that recruit, manage and recognize the library's volunteers.
You will communicate and engage with community and staff stakeholders. In addition, you will lead your team by providing excellent coaching and effective communication and encouraging those skills in others. You will mentor staff in complicated or special needs issues, workflow and screening strategies.
You will consult with and coach managers and staff in on-going volunteer engagement challenges including performance issues. You will work with staff to coordinate volunteer orientation processes and develop staff training to engage volunteers effectively. In addition, you will oversee the maintenance of the volunteer database. You will be responsible for creation and oversight of the Volunteer Services and Title Wave budget.
The program includes 700-800 monthly active volunteers and more than 2,000 volunteers providing service annually. The program's reach extends to all library locations and outreach programs.
